Google: 53% of mobile users will leave your website if it takes > 3 sec to load
THANKS 👏: I appreciate the many claps most my readers leave because it takes me a long time to write these free articles.
🎬 Video version:
🏃♀️Make Your Website Load Faster:
1.) Go to Google PageSpeed Insights 🕵️♀️
Type your website URL to see your website speed:
scroll down to “opportunities” to see where you can save the most time.
2.) Check your actual image sizes 🖼
Go to your website, go to chrome developer tools (using the shortcut: cmd+alt+i), click the mouse button on the top left, click on one of your images.
Below we can see the image size is 423.72px wide.
3.) Edit your images to be 2.5x their max size on your website ↔️
So I edited the above image in my code to be up about 1000–1200px.
This is so you still have good image quality if you decide to enlarge it.
4.) Use tinyPNG to reduce your image size by up to 70% 🐼
This is gold:
pass your image to tinyPNG and replace it with your image on your website.
TingPNG’s compression algorithm helps greatly reduce the size of your image, without a loss in quality.
5.) Go back to Google PageSpeedInsights ⚡️
Once you’ve implemented these changes live on your website, go to pageSpeedInsights and check how your website load speed has improved.
Thanks for reading! 🤪
